A star, but not of Hollywood.

Sticking with the California theme, although this bird can be found in many places other than California. The Willet . However I have a query regarding one of my shots , follow me.--------
Willet

Willet

Willet

And now we arrive at my query
To all intent and purperses this looks to be a willet, but in all my resech Willets have grey to grey-blue legs, this bird however has yellow legs.
Can anyone shed any light on my Query ? please. (could it perhaps be a juvenile)

  2. Hi Gordon. I think it is a Wandering Tattler?

  4. I would say it's a greater yellowlegs. It depends on the size, in your photo it looks quite large, making it the 'greater' instead of lesser yellowlegs. In non-breeding plumage.

Excellent photos of the willet too Gordon. Thanks for linking up this week at I'd Rather B Birdin'.

  7. My first thought went to Tattler - but such things confuse me in Australia, let alone the US!
