Waiting for good weather

Like everyone in the UK I'm getting just a teensy bit fed up with the weather, with just a short break after a storm, before another comes roaring in. The last one caused quite a bit of damage through-out the UK, but thankfully here in Penrith we got off lucky again with little or no damage. Unfortunately there is another on the way for later today.
So once again I'm digging into the archives to share some pics with everyone out there. Just a couple to keep you going, hope you like them.
Firstly when I was out climbing one day, and looked up to see this unusual cloud formation, I don't think this photo give a good interpretation of the formation, I seemed to be more impressed on the day.

And secondly, a winter sunset, looking over  the Western fell from Derwentwater.

  2. These are both beautiful shots. I think the cloud formation looks like a mermaid took to the sky.

  7. Great photos! I remember so many interesting cloud formations when I lived in the Northern Hemisphere - tropical clouds are a little dull in comparison.

  8. I know it takes a lot to make a Brit complain about the weather, but I've been reading about your latest devastating storms there and you have every right to take issue with how Old Man Winter has been treating your lovely island! I hope this latest devastating storm gave you a wide berth…

Your photos are wonderful! That unique cloud picture caught my eye right away on the SkyWatch page yesterday, but I didn't have a chance to follow it here. I see a lot of unusual clouds out here, but I've never seen one quite like that! It looks to me a bit like a bird, diving under the water to grab a bite to eat! And your sunset definitely has that telltale look of a setting winter sun. Makes me want to sit closer to the fire with a nice cuppa (I'll even bring some of my bad, bad, bad chocolate brownies to share). :-)

    Stay safe and warm!
