We are now going through a period of sunshine and showers, more like April than February. So its a case of get out and then get back in again out of the cold wind. Not the kind of weather to spend time pottering, and hunting things out. So bare this in mind as you view my meager offering, they are still attractive birds.

Black-headed Gull (Larus ridibundus) |
|
Summer plumage just beginning to show. |
Next up what I think ranks as one of our smartest Gulls
|
Herring Gull (Larus argentatus) |
And lastly more Black-headed Gulls, what a load of posers.
|
And again one in the advanced stages of summer plumage. |
Thank you for looking in.
i enjoy these as they're not birds i get to see here (unless sometimes in a walmart parking lot)
ReplyDeleteI keep see a few Black Headed Gulls with a full brown head. I like the way they all lined up for you. From Findlay
ReplyDeleteSo you have april too ,its the same weather here +7 yesterday.nice photo of the gulls ,Nette
ReplyDeleteHi Gordon, I enjoy your photos very much. Nice of them to pose so politely for you!

Thanks for following.
I love the SeaGulls ... they are smart and crafty, always looking for ways to steal food from another bird. In the spring we have a flock of white Pelicans migrate through and Gulls have a ball trying to steal from them. The the Pelicans catch on and start chasing them away before they even catch a fish. Lots of activity .. we also have Gulls in our Walmart parking lot (like Tes Wis Girl) ... they too are beggers. What fun. Your pictures are great and glad to see them getting their spring colors ... gives me hope that some warm weather is in the offing :)

That Herring Gull is rather smart. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated by sea gulls. Sometimes there are too many to sift through....but this is one I have yet to meet in person. I can see why they are called Black-headed...but there are several more with black head. So then you have to move onto beak size, color, size......such a finicky ID group. I guess that's why I like to ID them:) It gives us a challenge:)
ReplyDeleteGulls are handsome birds even if they steal the food from your hand given half a chance.
ReplyDeletehet is gewoon dringen geblazen.
ReplyDeleteGulls, Gulls and Gulls, amazing photos.
ReplyDeleteNice shots of the Gulls - all in a row!
ReplyDeleteGulls - interesting birds, and very challenging when out of Australia for me!
ReplyDeleteNice series and variety of Gulls. Enjoy the rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteI think they are great birds, true survivors and with personality too. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteThese are different from the gulls I get to see. Mostly I just hear them laughing at me. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteI like gulls. A nice variety Gordon!
ReplyDeleteLove the gulls Gordon!! There is a spot here where I live that there are so many gulls, we can HEAR them before we see them. I never tire of watching or listening to them either.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots of guls. I like that shot.
ReplyDeleteI like the way those gulls lined up so nicely for you!
ReplyDeleteExcellent captures of the gulls. Al the best!
ReplyDeleteThank you every one for your kind Comments.
ReplyDeleteGordom.
These are great Gull images and your Osprey banner, terrific Gordon~
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's meager at all Gordon.
ReplyDeleteI think gulls sometimes get overlooked. Sure they're not the majestic eagle but delightful in my opinion. I can still remember my first trip to the coast of Virginia and waking that first morning to the sound of gulls. A pleasant sound for a farm girl. :)
'Load of posers" - that made me smile.
Thanks for dropping by this week and hope your world is a little warmer today.
These are great shots of some handsome gulls!
ReplyDeleteGulls just want to have fun! Great pictures.
