A trip to the Wirral

Visitor centre hide at Burton marsh
Had a ride down to the Wirral to visit my 80 something year old cousin and take her out for the day, she had read in the local paper about the new reserve at Burton marsh, and so we took her for a visit. She could only go as far as the one hide as she is bad on her pins but very much enjoyed herself, especially as she doesn't get out much.
Its a quiet time of the year and this summer has been very quiet, so there wasn't a great deal to see.
view from the new visitor centre hide looking over part of the marsh.
A closer view revealed a large flock of Black-tailed Godwits mixed in with Lapwings and Black-headed Gulls.
I went on a wander to another hide, and came across this Gatekeeper by one of the paths
view from second hide and at a great distance one Little Egret and six Green Shanks could just about be viewed.

I think the place has great potential, and eventually they are going to link it to the Inner marsh farm hide via a new footpath, maybe before the year is out. Hopefully another visit will be on the cards sometime.
