Shark Valley

Little Green Heron
As it was a nice sunny and warm day again (little joke, this is Florida) we decided to head along US41 which is an East - West route across the Everglades, and from which we took the turn off for Shark Valley, and a host of wild-life.

Anhinga using it preen gland to oil its feathers.

Sometime you can be so preoccupied with what is going on at ground level you can miss a great sighting above you, as I nearly did. Swallow-tailed Kite.

Little Blue Heron.

It spots something edible

And in the blink of an eye it grabs it tosses it in the air, catches it and down the throat it goes.

Snowy Egret, undercarriage down,

Good landing.

And instantly goes into hunting mode.

And almost at the same time this Red-shouldered Hawk came flying down the water way and landed on this pole.

Hope you enjoyed
