Birds Round Derwentwater

Canadian formation flying team.
Spring migration has started but there isn't a great sign of it in Cumbria, most of the local lads are going out of county just to top up their year list.

Woodpigeon enjoying the morning sun, which we haven't seen a great deal of. !!!

And while its so nice I might as well do a spot of preening.

And down by the shore a Pied Wagtail flitted about looking for insects

Pied Wagtail

In a nearby field This Rook was busy collecting worms and grubs, obviously feeding young somewhere.

And lastly, Misty with her new best friend, (the furry one not the wooden one).
Hope you enjoy, thank you for looking in.

  1. Lovely birds. The wagtail is one of my favorite birds even if they're very common.

  3. Your post has got me remembering a distance walk I did many years ago, Gordon--Lake District from Newby Bridge to Whitby. Trying to remember the name of the one valley that we went through--Swale?--that was a birder's paradise. Such a good variety that you have here and I especially loved you walk partner.

    1. Hi Faye, good to have you join us, The only Valley I can come up with beginning with Swale is Swaledale, part of the Yorkshire Dales. Wow that was some walk you did.
      Take care Gordon.

  4. We enjoyed your post, Gordon! Our Spring migration is winding down and the locals are busy building nests and raising chicks.

The Wagtail is a handsome fellow!
